ACTING CLASS
Matthew Barry TeachesI've always found that actors have to be comfortable in whatever method or approach they take. I've studied at the Actors Studio and was also taught by the late great Uta Hagen at HB Studios in New York. Over 40 years as an actor and 20 years as a casting director you acquire a tremendous amount of knowledge. The bottom line with any class is, are you learning? Are you becoming a better actor? In the ever changing world of film and television, and especially in the field of casting, I'm finding more directors and producers are looking for an "organic" approach. Someone who is "natural" yet knows everything about their character. Call it the millennium approach to subtext. Each week I "cast" students in a scene. Sometimes they're paired. They come in and "audition" in a classroom setting. You'll be trained to be ready for anything, because you never know what to expect in an audition room or on an ever changing set. I make sure you're well prepared. There are also constant surprises with cold reads, improv, exercises, so students never know what to expect and classes are always kept fresh.
