THE ART OF FILM ACTING
Jeremiah Comey Acting StudioJeremiah Comey teaches three nights a week in Studio City. Although his studio is cozy, his curriculum boasts a cast of working industry figures. (Mecchad Brooks, Kayla Ewell, Jackson Rathbone, Billy Zane, etc.) Classes take place on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 7pm, and they go on until everyone has finished their scene. Although the class can end a little late (ranging from 11pm to 1am, depending on class size), Jeremiah offers his students the opportunity to transform into brilliant actors, writers and directors. Mondays and Wednesdays are classes for all levels of acting skill, while Tuesday is reserved for the more advanced students. Class is conducted on camera and is projected onto split-screens. He uses USB recording devices so that each student has immediate access to their scene. The split-screen method is also reflective of Jeremiah's specialty, which is the close-up. It allows the students to see how important it is to react to each other when performing dramatic dialogue, and to cultivate a truly emotional experience. He focuses on having each actor build an awareness for the simplicity of emotion-to see the love, anger, sadness or fear in the eyes of their scene partner. Not only is his method unique and useful to all areas of film production, but his presence is inspiring. Anyone who is interested in film should come on in, there's nothing to lose and everything to gain.
