Use this thread to post your headshots for feedback, get info on your age range/type, find good headshot photographers, ask any questions you may have about headshots. If you are posting a DIY headshot for feedback, and not just a snapshot in order to get feedback on your age range/type/etc, it is advised that you do at least some basic research on what actor headshots look like--composition, framing, lighting. You will find a Google Image search for "actor headshots" to be very helpful for this. Non-professional shots are fine for age/typecasting; please keep in mind that one picture is a difficult way to go about this. Video of you moving and speaking would be ideal, but understandably more difficult to post. For what it's worth, the branding workshop at SAG-AFTRA recommends a five-year age range. That's inclusive, so for example 19-23, 25-29, 34-38, etc.
"\[so and so\] always sounds like themselves in every anime/game/show/advertisement/movie etc... they have no voice range, they have only ONE VOICE, their own!" Without fail, even the voice over actors who do have a fairly great handle on character acting and use the various parts of their vocal range to make different characters sound different, this is a common criticism. I even saw this criticism thrown towards Phil LaMarr of all people. Imagine. One of the greatest voice actors in the world getting this. What I say to people who make this statement is this: we all have one voice. Do you expect these voice over actors to suddenly rip their own vocal cords out and transfer someone else's into their throat? If you listen close enough, obviously you'll hear the natural voice of someone, even if they're trying to put on a different type of voice. Even worse is when they use this criticism to justify why someone should be in less games or shows or whatever they frequently hear a particular voice actor in. Instead of whether the characters they play feel natural, and the voice they use feels appropriate to the performance/character. I see this directed to guys like Nolan North a lot, because he has used his normal voice in a bunch of video games like with Nathan Drake in Uncharted or Desmond Miles in Assassins Creed, he should stop getting work and leave VO for whatever reason. I'll give a more precise example. Laura Bailey is one of the most amazing actors in the industry today. She always has a great performance in her sleeve in most of the things she's done. But without fail, people criticize her for sounding like herself in the majority of work she's done, without ever paying attention to her performance. It was notable this year... her performance this year as the character "Abby" in The Last of Us (TLOU) 2 was amazing, world-class, all the superlatives. The way she made people loathe Abby and then slowly start to empathize with her as you saw her perspective in that life was quite amazing, and a true achievement in performance. But outside of the vitriol directed towards Laura's way in terms of the character's in game actions, one of the most pertinent things people had to say about Abby was just "it's Laura Bailey again". If you see the type of character and person Abby is and how she's performed, of course that isn't true. Abby is completely different to Laura, and Laura is most definitely not type-casted into this role. But because certain fans focus on the voice and what she does with it instead of the performance, and because she uses her own voice yet again, it lowers the quality of her acting in the game somehow. Let me just say, as a fan of voice actors and as someone with huge respect for their talents, if you yourself reading this are a fan of voice acting and actors in general and focus more on vocal range instead of the type of performance that these people are capable of, and you're really discrediting the talent of people like Laura if all you care about is if her voice "sounds different" (and Laura btw, has a very good range, just watch the scale of character acting she's achieved [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vspcRuRjI_Y&t=220s)). Whether you're a follower of VAs who are some of the most underrated pros in the world, or just a fan of games or shows or whatever, don't try and discredit voice actors by their range, or at least their range alone. What matters is if the characters they play feel real, tangible and authentic, and that comes down to performance. Of course you need to sound different from role to role for the most part, and that's great to have in your arsenal. But there are plenty of voice actors with a shitton of talent who literally have only their own voice and excel as performers first and foremost. tl;dr - **let's do better to dispel the myth that voice actors with supposedly limited vocal ranges aren't great voice actors, or more accurately, performers. Performance will always matter a fair deal more than \[vocal\] range, but range is of course a great tool to have in your disposal. It's just not bigger than acting itself.**
So, I'm nearing my 40's and acting has been something that I've loved since being on stage the first time in high school. Switched up my college major from Biology/Bioengineering to Theatre after my first year and a half and have been living on Chicago for the last 13 years trying to make it my life's work. I also have some wicked depression/self esteem issues that only really go away when I'm on the stage or in front of the camera, doing what I know I'm good at with other people that have the same passion. I've come close a couple times with projects that could open doors, but have fallen apart literally days before opening. Then had to deal with the financial backlash of taking time off regular job working to make this thing, and ending up so far behind that I can't imagine I'll ever have the free time again to find another project. The biggest thing that has made me salty is watching my friends build up resumes and make connections, while I'm working my ass off to barely scrape by and keep a roof over my head. It makes me feel even more alone and hopeless when I realize that they are becoming successful because they have a strong social group or a S/O to help with the financial burden of living. And because of my psych issues I don't want to be a burden on anyone, and feel like I need to be "successful" before I can expect anyone else to want to be in my life. And then the thought that I'm only looking for a relationship so that I can use them to get to my career goals hits and makes me feel even more worthless. Every single roommate I've had, we've ended up hating each other. One even got into a fistfight with me at 5am while on molly and methadone. So I'm extremely wary of living with anyone I consider a friend in case I screw it up again. But the financial expense of living alone is difficult to manage when you need a job with the flexibility to change schedules with like 4 days notice. And especially with COVID I'm depressed because I'm alone, running around the city delivering food and groceries for just barely enough to get by, and not doing what actually brings me joy. That's enough of a rant. Does anyone else feel this way? Have you been able to be a happy starving artist enough that you feel like you're giving equal parts to a relationship? Have you come out the other side? Please, I need to know that there's still hope and that I'm not alone.
Hey everyone, I'm a 24 year old actor living in Los Angeles who has been pursuing acting professionally for the past year. I've acted in 12 student/short films however I have no IMDb credits to my name whatsoever. Four of these films have never been completed, five are in post-production and the remaining three have been completed but never ended up on IMDb. I'm just wondering if it's completely up to the director/producer/crew of the film as to whether or not the film ends up on IMDb and the cast receives a credit or if the actor can make an IMDb credit for themselves. I know I should probably know the answer to this question already but alas, I don't :O Thank you!
So I often hear that beginner actors who have agents plead with their agents to get them auditions with current big movies that are casting. In the few cases I’ve heard about where actors do this, these ended up being their breakthrough roles. I recently got a well-connected NYC agent. One of her clients has had lead roles in several blockbusters. I’m a minority though (which might affect the available film roles). But how do I find out about these major movies and TV shows casting if most don’t release that info?
Hey guys- I take this acting class, and the teacher brought in this agent for the whole class last July. I’ve got my bfa, I’m trained and I’m at the top of the class. I’ve got 19 EMC points. I know I’m good and I know that sounds assholey. I’m not the best in the world, but I can play with the big dogs. Anyways, here’s my sitch. When the agent came in this July, I did mediocre work. Not bad work- but not the best I could have done. I did the dumb mistake of trying to impress rather than focus on creating solid, good moments. And I made some good moments, and I had some good comedic moments. The acting teacher talked to me after and the exact words were “I could tell he’s a better actor than what he did tonight.” So I didn’t push hard immediately after the class- I just emailed the agent, thank you for taking the time to share your expertise with the class, and I hope our paths cross again soon. That was at the end of July- last week, I sent him my materials, including my reel, which has some solid work, and also letting him know ive been booking work (I’m gonna be the lead in a play at a theatre festival). I told my acting teacher about it, and I didn’t get a response. I know agents get a lot of emails so I’m gonna follow up and send him a video of a scene we recorded over zoom during the acting classes, since it’s good work and just to show off more work to him. I’m gonna ask my acting teacher to directly ask the agent to take a look at it, since they’re bros. Do you have any advice for me? I just want to start building a relationship with this agent- I really think we would work well together, and I need more ideas to fight for his attention/time! I had a good conversation with an agent in the same agency as him, but he is in LA and I moved to NYC- should I mention that? Thank you in advance for any advice you’ve got! I think I have a solid shot at this guy signing me, and I need more help doing everything I can to hit my shot
I read some answers to some posts here, and many of you and also, many of other actors around the world, got their agent cause the agent saw you in a theather, or in a student film, or he went to a acting school and the teachers suggest you and so on. But instead, is it legit to search your own agent, and maybe submit some photos of you, some videos of you where you do a monologue or some act alone? Someone already did that and can share their experiences? Thx a lot
Hi everyone. Thanks in advance for taking the time to consider these voice actor roles. We are opening up casting for two additional roles. I thought this would be a good place to cast for our new narrative podcast audio series, Earth Eclipsed. I am not sure if this kind of post runs afoul of any subreddit rules (if so, please let me know and I will take it down!), but feel free to ask me any questions in the comments section here, or to email us at casting@thelunar.co. We have an FAQ section on our website as well, which is listed below. Earth Eclipsed is a paid non-union production. All voice roles are compensated based on SAG new media daily minimums. We are looking for unique and talented actors to be a part of this exciting, new audio experience! To apply, please visit our [website](https://thelunar.co/casting). We look forward to reviewing your applications! To the moon! AJ/Nick **About the series:** A brilliant neuroscientist on the brink of a galaxy-changing discovery about human memories has her work cut short when she’s kidnapped by a renegade miner. Thus begins Earth Eclipsed, an audio adventure that follows Dr. Alexine Prometh as she works to outwit Nico Dunn and get back to the Abacus Project, a project that has the potential to save millions of lives. Set in the distant future, this immersive audio series explores what it means to live in a utopian society, and the great lengths a person must go to preserve it. Follow Dr. Alexine Prometh as she works to extend the reach of that utopia, but has to battle against a corporation that threatens to take her work and a man on the fringes hellbent on forcing her to participate in his own devious plan. Earth Eclipsed is a sci fi epic that explores what it means for humanity to be at its best, and what it means when our principles meet practice. Asking questions about data privacy and what it means to aspire to perfection, it's not only a thrilling tale, but a story for our time. The first season of Earth Eclipsed will be released in early 2021 on all major podcast platforms. **About us:** The Lunar Company is a new Los Angeles-based storytelling studio founded in 2020 by Nicholas Prufer, AJ Churchill, and Victor Lee. **Who I am and my situation**: a parttime, untrained actor who does some acting assignments a few times a year, as in commercials and as an extra with a few lines, purely based on improvisations skills. Now, I want to develop myself further and become more conscious about what skills I can improve myself further on. I want to convey that I see it more than just a hobby (but not a main job [yet]), and get a few more roles. (And additionally, maybe acquire a small role in a movie once I've gotten more experience and feel like it). I don't have much of a budget, so I want to keep it as cheap as possible and be done in maximally half a year, so I want to do short course and not a full time study. Now, after a a search on the best acting academies, a look at the hollywoodreporter and Youtube, I arrived at some short (/partially online) courses that are provided by some leading Unis/academis: RADA / LAMDA / CSSD. Their short courses are affordable and seem to offer a good fundament. Now, I'd love to get some **recent** thoughts and insight on those academies and their short courses (recent, because I've already seen an outdated post elswhere). I can't decide which of the 3 I should choose. **So, my main question is:** which do you believe I should choose and why, considering my situation and what I do it for^? **My brainstorming**: RADA: provides 4 online interactive short course (VOICE/MOVEMENT/CONTEMPORARY/CLASSIC), which can be followed by a more in depth course (the 500£ one on their website). CSSD: offers different online interactive courses, acting for camera 1, acting for camera 2, acting 1: intro, acting 2: text. LAMDA: has a ~1400£ course, 2 weeks on campus (seems like a huge advantage to me), but its dates are to be announced yet and seems like a no-go due to current difficulties in travelling and unpredictableness. Would love to hear your thoughts. Many thanks in advance! If things are yet unclear or you have got any questions, I'd love to hear them I appreciate any helping hand! Cheers!
I am in the middle of changing my full time job to something that will be less flexible and more hands on but will pay me more. I’m worried that by making this change, I won’t have as much time to continue auditioning and working as an actor. I unfortunately can’t make acting my full time job...yet. I’m stuck between sticking with my current job that doesn’t pay very well but allows me flexibility to audition to accepting a new job that will be less flexible but will allow me to support myself as an actor until I can solidify my acting career full time. What are y’all’s thoughts?
I’m searching voice actors for my thesis animation series that tackles problems of personalization, AI and Silicon Valley. Every 1-2 minutes episode has a different main character who interacts with the newest technology. I’ll use a text to speech software for the AI’s voice, but for the human characters I’d need 4 people: Mark, the CEO of Smart You, Zoe, a passioned owner of a small bakery, Jeff, a farmer who doesn’t care about anything and Lilli, a rebellious alternative-facts believer who despises technology and the system. As a student who’s finishing the university, my budget is restricted, around 50€ per person. I’m a freelancer too, so I want to pay you the fair amount, within my possibilities. Nevertheless I’d love to hear some of you and we can chat about specifics. You can look @new_display_ on IG for my creative process around this project. Hope to hear from you, Fabian
Hey, here to ask any starting out (or experienced) professional actors on how you set your rates. I recently booked an audition for the lead role for a short film, and I realised I didn't disclose rates on my resume. (To clarify I'm a student actor still very much inexperienced in getting my feet into the industry). How do you set rates that are reasonable while also not devaluing the measure of your skill? Would really appreciate any advice.
HIRING ACTORS FOR FACEBOOK VIDEOS Hello! I’m hiring a handful of actors for short introductions to Bored Panda videos on Facebook. I’m looking for people with great personalities that can deliver high energy performances to help hook people just scrolling through Facebook to stop and watch our videos. The videos will be about all things travel and are very short and the introductions will only be about 10 seconds. It’s easy and fun work, but we do have the following requirements: - you must have your own filming equipment. Good audio, Full HD video, good lighting (natural is acceptable) - you must have a solid background (just a wall is good, and colorful ones are definitely a plus) - you must be very communicative. Going a day without replying to me without very good reason is unacceptable Payment is as follows: The intros, as you saw, are very short (1-3 sentences) and you would be paid $10/approved and published video. That's an important distinction because, since this is the beginning of the project, we have to do a lot of testing in order to learn what works and what doesn't, so for the first month or 2 we will be doing 5 different intros for each video so we can run ads and see which one performs the best. You would not get paid $10/test, rather just the one that gets uploaded, BUT like I said, that's just for the beginning, after a month or so we'll be able to start scaling back the testing and as we do that we'll be able to start producing more videos, which means less work but more money for you. Also, these intros take about 2 minutes to shoot, so it's not a hug time commitment. If you’re interested, please let me know! We’re hiring up to 10 actors and after sending us a sample and getting approved by the team, we have have you start filming this week!
I was on the Clubhouse app last night \[Great for networking with actors/directors, but extremely addictive app in general\] inside of an Actors meet up room. The moderators were some 10-20 year seasoned actors opening the floor for questions or advice from other actors. I entered the room as a moderator was telling a new actor that he should not be turning down roles because he isn't 'big enough' yet for that. The actor explained that he enjoys listening to interviews with famous actors. Philip Seymour Hoffman advised to take all roles, while another actor (Viola Davis I think) said don't take it if your heart isn't in it. He said this resonated with him, so when roles come up that he isn't comfortable with or doesn't feel connected to, he passes on them. You often hear both sides of this spectrum. Accept whatever you can get, or don't take everything just because its offered. In your opinion, which is the better advice? Or should you just use your own discernment and decide what is best/safe for you?
I'm thinking about hiring a voice actor for a part but not sure how to go about it. Does the number of lines matter? Like if there were only 8 lines.
HELLO my fellow actors I’m coming to ask about an agency it’s called glitter talent agency I got it off of sag aftra but in some of the reviews it said it was a scam and you had to pay 100 could someone help out?
I'm looking into good majors (preferably 2 years or less) for someone who is pursuing acting. Wondering if RTs scheduling and income are a good fit for someone who is an actor.
Becomes good at something brings you fame. Any job, not everyone, but most of the jobs can bring you fame if you are really good at it. Scientist, researchers, chefs, artist, football player, chess player, mathematicians and so on, but being an actor, singer of success bring a lot of fame, maybe too much. because everyone here are pursuing to be an actor, are you scared about the fame or you are searching that? Because, have everyone look at you, stopped you on the street, all those paparazzi out of there, you cannot stick your finger in your nose that a pic of that is already on reddit. What about you guys? Are you scared or you want that?
And like sponsorships and ambassadorships for brands? Or do a lot still struggle financially?

Lately, I have been thinking a lot about filmmakers (screenwriters and director) and actors. If we compare these two, if someone has a great passion for both, which would you say is harder to be successful in and which one is having a harder time breaking into the film industry? [View Poll](https://www.reddit.com/poll/k8yeya)
I was recently watching this Showtime series that Ben Stiller directed called Escape at Dannemora. The limited series stars Benicio Del Toro, Paul Dano and Patricia Arquette (who won awards for her work) and those three are uniformly great, but there was one actor who seemed familiar but I just couldn't place him. When it finally hit me who the guy was I had to look him up to be sure and, indeed, it was a guy I had just seen in Unbelievable on Netflix, Perry Mason on HBO and he even had a small role in the early seasons of Narcos. His name is Eric Lange and in Dannemora, he had on fake teeth, glasses and a wig which is why I couldn't immediately place him... but wow, the guy is a chameleon! Got me thinking... who are some of your favorite character actors/actresses? I'll list two more who I always love when they turn up: John Carroll Lynch and Margo Martindale. If you see either of them you know instantly that you're going to get a quality performance and, as a performer, if you could have a career like either of them you should consider yourself lucky.
Its for a very amateur production that I'm doing with a couple friends, I just need an adult male to say the following piece of dialuoge. 'Harris open that door right now, or ill bash it open with your mother's skull!' The dialogue should be yelled, try to keep the mic quality high, you can improvise the lines afterwards if you like, just more yelling I guess. ill let you know if your voice will be used. Please private message me with your takes, thank you very much, break legs.
This may seem like a silly question, but as someone who’s sort of just starting out and trying to get their feet wet, sometimes I feel like I haven’t “earned” the title. So what would one need to accomplish to consider themselves a voice actor officially?
Hi all! I'm brand new to reddit in general so please go easy on me haha. I'm represented by a small agency based outside of London, but their focus isn't really on Musical Theatre, which is what I want to go into. Obviously I know that there's hardly any auditions right now in general, but I don't think this agent has the contacts that I was hoping for when I signed with them. I'm not worried about talking to my agent about leaving my contract, but I have no idea what to say in an email to potential agencies when I submit my material. I obviously don't want to bad mouth my current agent, or spend too much time explaining myself in what should be a short cover letter, so just wasn't quite sure how to put it in words. If anyone has any experience in switching agents, please drop any advice you have :) thanks!
Do u think top agencies CDs and producers like actors with specific training over others? Like uk or us training vs a 1-4 yr conservatory vs theatre vs BFA? Is there a point in training when you’re more likely to be noticed? I feel some known actors blow up in the middle of training and still aren’t that great
Hello! Sorry this is kind of long.. I’ve been working in the film industry in the wardrobe department for a couple of years now on indies, and was just genuinely intrigued as to how actors deal with their self esteem. I’ve experienced first hand actors confide in me how they feel in certain clothing, feeling ugly or, not good enough, much to my disbelief and I could never understand how they compose themselves when it’s time to film. I guess my reason for asking this is because I too would like to try and act, but my own self esteem issues are holding me back. I despise having my photograph taken because I don’t want to see the outcome. But I’ll still go through with it. I’ve always been this way. I could never give speeches in class or in front of crowds. But I really do admire the craft and seeing it from behind the camera and the work that goes in has changed my perspective entirely. In college I took an acting class and I had a lot of fun, but it was also nerve wracking for me. That was also 5 years ago now and I feel like I’ve grown a lot as a person since then. Does portraying a different character help one to put aside their own worries in the moment? Or is that going down another, possibly harmful, path? I know that looks shouldn’t matter but in today’s age you can’t help but worry about it when there is such an emphasis put on your outward appearance. And from working in the industry, on smaller budget films anyway, it’s evident that looks almost always win over ability. I’ve seen directors/producers tell actors that they look awful or have put weight on or shouldn’t stand/look a certain way. Maybe I’ve just not had the best on set experiences.. I’ve been looking into taking acting classes when the time is right but would appreciate any advice or feedback. Thank you :)

I want to set up some interviews with student actors who either want to get better or want to get their name out. Just send me some contact info so I know you're interested and I'll just ask a few questions. Thanks!
Hello! I finally have an agent in New Mexico and she’s already sent me out for something (I messed up my first submission and had a breakdown but \~we are moving past that\~). I have a few questions regarding our new partnership. If any industry people have the time to answer, I would be so grateful. **Question One:** I just have to know, will the fact that I messed up my first submission through Actors Access (only submitted one of the two videos required even though I was coached and filmed both) affect our new relationship? I sent her an email apologizing and attached the missing video and she seemed alright but please let me know! Also will the CD hold it against me? **Question Two:** How often should I communicate with her and in what fashion? This is my current plan: * A quick "got it, thank you" for every Eco Cast sent my way * A once monthly/month and a half update if applicable * EX: Let her know that I have new comedy footage and what classes that I'm taking as well as ask her what she needs from me? * A twice yearly gift during holidays/her birthday **Question Three:** When I book a project through self submitted work, should I send my agent her 10%? Just to be clear, I WANT to do this. My worry is that if I work a SAG ULB project and get $100 a day I'll send her a $10 check and she'll be offended? What is the industry standard for this? Thank you so much to anyone who takes the time to read/answer this. I really appreciate you!
I’ve noticed for a lot of video games and anime that voice actors such as Yuri Lowenthal, Crispin Freeman, Johnny Yong Bosch, Tara Platt, Steve Blum, Kate Higgins, Kirk Thortan, Dave Wittenberg, Mary Elizabeth McGlyn, Stephanie Sheh, and Laura Bailey show up in a lot of the credits. One game that I’m aware of is MagnaCarta 2. But for anime they’ve shown up in series such as Naruto (and Shippuden), Bleach, Durarara!!!, Code Geass, etc. Dows anyone know why?
Prove me wrong or prove me right... i dont stray to this subreddit often... i just had me a marathon of decent films and said to myself....... "holy shit... why isnt \*this\* woman a national hero or something... \*every\* time i see her in something...... she fucking NAILS it.. she dont upstage or anything..." can we get a round of applause for the best supporting actress \*ever\*?
I have my portfolio ready but then this one friend of a friend who was willing to give me a reference said that his agency is on freeze mode when getting new actors cause of covid and prob won’t take anyone new in until next fall . His agent told him other agencies in Toronto aren’t taking in new talent either ? Is this true ? Am I wasting my time if I submit ? :(
Hey everyone. So I’ve always wanted to act from a young age. I used to pretend I was an actor when I was little, (acting out fake skits, plays, etc.) Around the end of last year, I planned to start acting classes somewhere, and then try to get into a play, etc eventually. However, ever since COVID hit, I haven’t done any of that. I’ve asked my parents about this stuff, and all they’ve said is there’s nothing available due to COVID. I’m here to ask you guys what I should do because I feel like this would be a good time to try and start acting. I have no idea where to start because I’ve never acted before, so I hope I can get some advice here. Thanks!!
My ultimate goal in my life would be to get signed to one of the top acting agencies. Companies like UTA, CAA, or WME. Now on the websites I’ve send they don’t accept submissions. How would someone get representation from these companies. I’ve also seen some non celebrity actors are signed with these companies. Just a curious question!
As the title says, I got my first audition!! I don't have an agent or anything, and have just been on open casting sites, so this is a big deal for me. It's just a local commercial, but it's for a big brand and I really hope I get it. That being said, does anyone have any tips for a self tape? It's with a dog (not an actor dog, just my well behaved pet dog) and with a standard COVID face mask on. Anyway I'm so happy!!
Hey everyone! What different things do you use your acting skills for? I enjoy the state I live in, however it's not a Hollywood by any means. I also happen to love acting and would like to keep up with the skill and potentially get somewhere with it. I was thinking making YouTube videos, local plays, and maybe even making my own films (like Clint Eastwood lol) would be the way to do this without having to drop my entire life and move to a big city. So what do you currently do with your acting skills? Is it possible to get into the industry without having to move across the country?
**Hey Reddit collab fam,** **I'm currently experimenting with 3D animation in Maya and needing a female voice actor to do a short vocal recording. It's literally just 3 short lines of dialogue. Voice needs to be a little drawn / world weary / possibly been drinking/smoking too much / had a bit of a rough time of things (think present day Miley Cyrus kinda vibe). More womanly than girly - just like my current wardrobe collection. In exchange you get the honour of being part of a prestigious historical 3D animation which will likely last around 5-10 seconds and which will no doubt immortalize you in the eyes of friends and foes and skyrocket your career to new and dizzying heights! Only those brave souls who dare to dream of a life less ordinary need apply. Please send a demo reel of your finest choice vocal cuts and I'll get back to you ASAP and give you more of the juicy details. This is a pro-bono gig but can offer credit as sugar-free sweetener**
everybody says atlanta is blowing up and easier to get initial credits for new actors. is the barrier of entry easier in atlanta and are there more film/tv jobs in atl then nyc?

Thinking about moving in 2021 for a bit? Any ideas help!!!!!!!! Anything related to this pls. Versus moving to ATL or LA, or maybe Moving there after 2022???! Help!!!! Thots on international training ??
Heya all, I hate not living in a major country. How can one find worldwide auditions? As in, projects that accept auditions from international actors? I know backstage has some, and trust me, I've applied to every single one of those. Before you tell me to first focus on the local pond- I am, but there is no source for auditions here, like backstage, and even small, unpaid roles are only found through connections, which I barely have. Thank you!
My wife is an actor who grew up in a different country and she’s always asking me what to wear for certain looks (ie 80s punk rock, valley girl etc). I want to get her a book or some sort of guide as a gift for Christmas because I don’t always know myself. Do you guys know of anything like this?
Hello everyone! I've been lucky enough to have a potential job come up with a studio on a new animated tv series. I'm very much an amateur and haven't ever done anything on this level before now. So I had a couple questions for the professionals or those who at least know what's up. 1. I've heard there is a voice actor's union out there i should be a part of. Is that true, and how do I do that? 2. How does one negotiate for pay with a studio as opposed to smaller/shorter one time gigs? 3. What are some absolute "don't even think about it" things to avoid when working in the tv realm?
By non-white it can be any race(s) like black, Asian, Latino, mixed, etc. I’m a minority with a pretty well-regarded agency that I’ve been with during the pandemic. I don’t even get breakdowns/requests to audition once a month during COVID now.
I recently came across this guy but he has literally no information whatsoever about himself and his experience and he also has no social media. Is he legit? He seems to give some pretty solid advice and kinda knows what he’s doing should you trust the acting advice he gives?
Recent well-known and successful actors like Laura Harrier, Amanda Collin, and Karl Glusman graduated from there within the past five to 10 years. Now they’re all signed with big agencies like WME and CAA. But I’m curious how they got there? In the sense of does William Esper Studio provide those connections and a senior showcase?
tl;dr - no film industry/set/ extra experience, applied to be an extra in my city, booked as a stand-in instead, rethinking my choice because I have no idea what it entails or if I'm qualified. Any tips or information would be greatly appreciated! I hope I'm posting in the right place! I'm not in the film industry at all, but I applied to be an extra on a show that's filming in my city since the pandemic has me taking up side gigs and a day of filming pays more than my regular day job. "Applying" involved me submitting a shitty headshot I took outside my house and a body shot, as well as info on my height, weight, hair color, etc. Well, the casting people (not the show) reached out to see if I was available to be a stand-in for one of the actors. To be honest, I saw that it paid more and booked it right away, but now I'm googling what a stand-in even is and on-set terminology, and I'm feeling a bit anxious. I was never asked about my experience (I've never been on a set in my life) so I assumed it's a position that any average joe can take up, but reading up on it I'm not so sure. I also don't know if the actual show expects an experienced stand-in since I'm just communicating with the casting people? I don't want to delay shooting or piss anyone off! In the booking email, they have it as "\[NAME?\] stand-in", but when I looked up the iMDb page there's not a character/actor with that name. Although it could potentially be a shortened version of one character. Assuming it is, that actress is 1" shorter than me and I suppose we have the same skin tone and hair length, however, she's blonde and I have black hair. We also have different colored eyes and I'm 40 years younger. Is this standard? Any tips or info would be extremely helpful! Although I'm doing this for the pay, I genuinely want to do my best and make the shooting process as smooth as possible for the crew.
I just made an account, on backstage you can see all the available roles but on here I cant seem to figure out how this site works. How do I see the casting calls and available roles?
okay so it's probably very obvious that i want to be an actor since I'm here haha but recently, I had a conversation with my family that I never thought I'd be having. my family is very concerned about my career choice and are telling me to major in something stable because i'll die on the street with zero money and just won't be happy with my life. I tried telling them that I don't care if I don't have a stable job because I want to act but they just don't seem to agree with me or understand my love for this profession. Now, I fear becoming a big disappointment to my family but I also don't want to give up on my dreams just to meet their expectations. Can someone please help me with this situation? I don't know what to do. I was also planning on coming out to them as bi but that's a whole other issue that I don't have the energy to deal with anytime soon.
Weeee, you found me!
I'm your buddy Bottie, I was hiding behind the scenes, but now that you've found me I'd be happy to tell you what I'm doing.
I just wrote a few fun facts about Web For Actors
