Hi guys! Any actors/writers/filmmakers/comedians here interested in making a network of people to film stuff? create projects? Be creative? I love filming things I write and I have a friend I do it with all the time, but would be great if there was a community of people we can build in La that can help each other make projects come to life...short films, skits...whatever. I do a lot of comedy related stuff...here are some skits I shot and my style if anyone is interested. This is not a paid thing or anything, this is would legitimately be a group of people who love being creative! and want to help each other's dreams come to light, make stuff and be supportive! Here is a clip from a pilot I wrote and produced: [https://www.greatwhiteproduction.com/worn-down](https://www.greatwhiteproduction.com/worn-down) Skits I wrote and produced: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z\_Yaaoo6vYo&t=74s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_Yaaoo6vYo&t=74s) [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9slyOZtqhY&t=4s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9slyOZtqhY&t=4s) If you're interested! please comment with your thoughts! or Dm your materials and hopefully we can build an awesome team of people!
Everyday on this sub I find a new post, “Hi, I’m (insert age), what are my chances at acting?” When really the question op is asking actually says, “Hi, I’m (insert age), what are my chances at becoming a successful tv/film actor and when will I become rich and famous?” I totally understand that some people asking this question are legit, but let’s face it most people only have specific goals in mind that are not obtained even by amazing actors. So what you really need to ask yourself is how much time you’d like to give yourself to act. Not a time limit, but if it’s truly something you enjoy, how much time everyday will you devote yourself to your craft, hobby, career change, etc. I went from the Navy 17 to 22, to attending LA Film School and then American Academy of Dramatic Arts. I had more acting opportunities during my LA Film School days, even auditions for network shows, and it was only because I was specific in my self casting for military roles. I even had an audition for the show Enlisted (canceled years ago now) after I tweeted the director of the show. When I started at the American Academy, my focus changed to just learning the craft and basics of acting to become better, but it also opened me up to the world of COMPETITION. Which is an incredibly ugly side of acting. You’ll never know the pain, until you’re in that situation, of having a teacher who’s been acting on TV for years call you and another student up, place you side by side, and ask the class who they think will be on tv and film in the next 5 years and you not get a single vote. I could’ve quit everything right then and there and I felt like it, however I didn’t. I got my SAG Eligibility a few months later, and kept going. After all these years I’m now 30 years old. I write scripts and I’m developing my own content. I drive trucks full time for amazing money compared to anything else I can be doing right now, and you know where that fellow classmate is from 6 years ago that stood next to me? Working at the front desk of a hotel, longer hours than myself, making half the pay. He doesn’t have a personal studio to go to every weekend with a light setup/camera/3 editing bays. Yet if he moved here to Colorado with me I’d make him a key ASAP and I’d be super happy to have him here. I guess I’m saying all of this to beg you to stop asking about how your age will either make or break your career, because if someone told you “No! You’re acting career will never happen at 47!” Would you listen to them anyway? Or would you simply find a way to make it work for you? Get involved with people that care about you, even if they aren’t into film and acting, because those people will motivate you either way. If you are involved with a bunch of actors and filmmakers, make sure you are still taking time for yourself because they do not know what’s best for you and your career, only you do. Stop being so worried about “making it” and start worrying about “making it” as in making your own content, making your own path to your goals, because let’s face it... if you are in this sub reading this or posting regularly, I guarantee you are not acting for $250,000 an episode right now and if you are... amazing and I hope you’re using your time to throw that ladder back down. Everyone in this sub is amazing. Everyone contributing to this sub is amazing. We’re all going to make it in our own ways either today, tomorrow, 12 years from now. The best thing you can do for yourself is keep training, keep practicing monologues in mirrors on your cell phone cameras or in front of a dslr and edit yourself on a computer, keep writing, keep auditioning, etc. just never give up on yourself no matter who you are as a person, your age, weight, height, religion, skin color, appearance, all of these should be motivations to continue your acting career because there’s only ONE of you and I’m 100% certain that one of you could be in hundreds of parts on stage, film, tv that you never dreamed about because you haven’t tried. Thank you for staying for my TeDx talk, have a great day.
I have never been payed for voice acting work, but I am semi-decent at some impressions, vocal ranges and I have my own characters I voice. Can I call myself a voice actor even though I have little proof of my work? Do I need to be paid or have good examples of my work before I can call myself that or can I call myself a voice actor?
What in their preparation was missing?
Sorry if the title is confusing— I, 14f, am researching agencies near me that I could submit to. I’m not submitting anytime soon, because I don’t have many classes under my belt, nor any performing experience, but I like to have an idea of who would be a good fit in the future. There’s an agency that is well-known in my state. Their Twitter page and other online profiles state that they primarily represent models, but they also do film/tv/theatre actors. I went on their website and under the actor subpage, and it said “Commercial”. So I’m conflicted. I’m not really opposed to doing commercials, but if it is the only work I’d be getting, is it worth it? I dunno
I am booking, but obviously only through backstage or sometimes actors access. I would like to compete for guest star and co star roles, but I'm not sure if my current materials are enough. I know every case is different. It's a "me" thing where I don't think my reel is representative of my full capabilities. I have projects that might, but won't be out for a while due to editing and festival runs.
Hello! I am currently looking for a some voice acting gigs. I am a cheap voice actor. (1 cent per word) However, If I like the project, I may work out a deal. I am willing to give samples as well. I have the voice of a female and can do many accents. I am American, however I can do a good british voice, if you need me to sample anything before thinking about hiring I am willing to do that as well. I have a voice that ranges from 7 years old-25 years old. Dm me with your projects! I am willing to go cheaper if need be! (Examples, samples, and auditions I do for free!) I always wanted to be a child actor, it seems so much fun, for example the kids on modern family or something. I always thought it was amazing but I wanna know what it is really like because they are working after all and it must be pretty stressful having to manage their time and tutoring on set I also feel like social life takes a big hit and you miss out on well being a kid also the fame must be very overweight at such a young age. Whats it like to be a child actor? At what age is acting most enjoyable? (I am not that weird dude that posted earlier, I just didnt want people to see this post on my personal account)
So I'm fairly new to LA and have been submitting to actors access for a few months.. ..I'm realizing how much time I spend submitting to roles (I don't have an agent yet). It probably equates to a few hours a week, is that normal? Any tips on how NOT be tied to your computer when new breakdowns come in? I haven't signed up for other breakdown services yet and can only assume I'll be spending even more time self submitting once I create accounts on other sites. Would love to hear other actors opinions on this process and any tips learned along the way. I'm happy to do it, but I will say it'd be nice if actors access had a mobile phone app so we could submit on the go..
Use this thread to post your headshots for feedback, get info on your age range/type, find good headshot photographers, ask any questions you may have about headshots. If you are posting a DIY headshot for feedback, and not just a snapshot in order to get feedback on your age range/type/etc, it is advised that you do at least some basic research on what actor headshots look like--composition, framing, lighting. You will find a Google Image search for "actor headshots" to be very helpful for this. Non-professional shots are fine for age/typecasting; please keep in mind that one picture is a difficult way to go about this. Video of you moving and speaking would be ideal, but understandably more difficult to post. For what it's worth, the branding workshop at SAG-AFTRA recommends a five-year age range. That's inclusive, so for example 19-23, 25-29, 34-38, etc.
Hey guys, I was wondering if there were any actors on here that were under 20 and wanted feedback for their acting by a small group? It would basically be getting in a discord call once a week and we all do a 2 minute monologue and receive comments and ways to improve by peers. I want to do this for the many people who want to take acting classes but don't have the funds to do so. Reply that you're interested in the comments and I'll send you all an invite link tomorrow!
I am 18 years old. I become the worst actress in the world when I have to act in front of others. I instantly put up a wall. Though I do not want to. But when I am alone in my room, I can act just fine. I think I do it kinda okay/good. I practice expressions according to a situation I create in my head. I always strive to make it as perfect as I can right at that time. I make myself actually feel what that person in that situation is feeling. Or... Is anyone else doing this? Is it something people like to do even if they don't like acting in itself? Sad situations are a lot easier (without audience). Happy situations are very hard. I can not laugh at all when someone asks me. But again if I am in my room alone, I can make myself feel that tingly feeling in my chest and be happy, smile or even laugh genuinely. I am in general, aren't an ''always smiling'' person. I do not have genuine laughs most of the time. Nor smiles. I want to have a bubbly personality though. So much. I just do not feel connected to people. Empathy is off my list too towards friends. I only feel it towards my little brother and romantic partners. \---------------------------- So people around me only see that I am an "egoistic" person who thinks she has talent.. I start to doubt myself because of this. My sister asks me to act, and is looking at me with her judgy eyes and then she has that "I told you" face and a smile on her when I can't act. I can't even get myself to start acting in front of her, so I am just like sitting, feeling stuck and then I suddenly become tired because it was "too much".. Getting myself to stop feeling this feeling and finally do something. So does it make me a bad actress? Do I still have a chance to be good at acting in front of others/audience? :(
I submitted myself for a role on Actor's Access 5+ months ago and just got an audition. The thing is that during those 5+ months I moved to a different province (2000 km/1500 miles away). I honestly didn't expect this. I assumed they shot this scene a long time ago. I'm relatively new to acting and this is the first time I've ever gotten anything through Actor's Access. What should I do? Should I decline?
Did you have to sign an NDA? My agent just sent me one for it today, and I'm curious to why they want the NDA like a week after my tape was submitted...it's getting my hopes up for how far I'm being considered in the casting process lol
Hello there, I am 29 years old and still a beginner, getting somewhat close to intermediate. I have taken 2.5 acting classes and did a few months of extra work full time. I have never acted on camera or on stage, well other than for my band's music videos. I never took acting in high school or college. I have directed a short film. If I had all the money in the world, next fall I would join a 1 year intensive program and make that my life. Unfortunately that's not something I can afford to do. So I'm trying to see what the next best option is. I have blind spots in my self awareness and kinesthetic awareness so I know it's going to be a lot of labor to get me where I need to go. And I'm not confident in my speaking voice. My thoughts now are that I take a weekly acting class, and just start auditioning for little films, student films, unpaid stuff. Maybe between those two my brain will begin to understand the process. Another thing I've noticed in a couple acting classes is a lot of my peers are actually very good and already trained. Already had a theater degree. So I felt a little out of place. I needed to just sink a lot of hours into practice, while they had already done that and they were more about working on abstract skills. I need to be doing a ton of scenes. **TL;DR: What can a working not wealthy person do to really get a lot of experience to become a professional actor?**
I want to get into voice acting, however I’m stooped. I’ve listened to endless podcasts and read many blogs and websites on the step by step process: Take acting and improv classes Build a resume by getting cast in roles Get an agent Etc Now I did take acting classes in high school and middle school, but I’m sure they didn’t offer me the skills that I need to be successful in this field of work. I’ve taken a few sessions with a voice acting coach and had to stop due to money constraints. Recently I’ve been looking for improv and acting classes to take locally, but due to covid no luck. I just am starting to feel a bit discouraged because I really want to do this but I often feel like I don’t have the voice or skill for it. I know with hard work and dedication you can get somewhere but just having doubts about where to go from here.
I'm SO confused. Pace seems to always get high rankings for some reason for their acting program. But Marymount consistently churns out successful (and well-known/famous) actors pretty much almost every year. Which in your opinion is better?
what are good markets right now for new actors starting out? female, 22, currently in south florida area... is ATL doing much these days? where is production more freq w covid? NYC? LA? CHI? looking to relocate anywhere but dont wanna waste $ bc im living at home still
I'm looking into getting a Masterclass subscription and will of course take the acting classes. I then had the idea of doing a directors class like Scorsese. Would that be a good idea for an aspiring actor to learn more of the directors point of view and understand them a lot more? Or would I just be wasting my time? Let me know!
Hi. I am wondering if anyone had experience with 321 acting studios? They have an overall good rating and it seems like they get good results for young actors but idk I haven’t seen any blogs or reddit posts about them. Additionally, does anyone know any good online acting lessons? I have masterclass and am taking those but I want to do some deeper work with a class. Thanks.

Hi all, first time poster here! I have a question about about the acting markets in ABQ vs ATL. I currently live in Georgia about 2 hours from ATL and was planning to move in several months but now that I have started looking for places to live in and around the city, I am realizing how much I dislike it. No offense to anyone who loves Atlanta, it's a cool place, just not for me. Anyway, it got me thinking of alternatives and I have heard that New Mexico is a good place to be right now (and having spent plenty of time in the state, I know I would love it). I have seen several posts on reddit and articles on Backstage etc. that make the ATL and ABQ markets sound comparable, so what I am wondering is, is that true? I periodically check the Rockies regional postings on Actors Access and it seems like there is way less stuff going on in NM right now, but maybe I am looking in the wrong place? Any and all advice would be so appreciated! I don't hate Atlanta so much that I wouldn't live there, but if there is a viable alternative in the Land of Enchantment then I would like to at least consider it! Thank you so much for your help! A little background on me: 30 yo female (I look significantly younger if that is relevant) who started taking classes 4 months ago. Been sending in a lot of self tapes but so far only booked a handful of student films. No agent yet.
Ok, i will cut straight to the point. I am an Indian residing in Bangalore and during this lockdown i have developed an interest in acting. I think i have some skills to be an actor as i keep mimicking and imitating characters from my favourite movies. I have also played the role of the main character in some of my school plays, and have received positive feedback for the same. I joined this Sub about a month ago and from a few posts, learnt that i need to start giving auditions to kick off my acting career. The thing is, i dunno where to find auditions around me. If there are any Indians in this sub, i would really like some help from you. Secondly, i find that while rehearsing for a play, during serious scenes i tend to smile conspicuously, and this ruins the emotion at the moment. I can't seem to fix this and during the final play, i barely stop myself from smiling and ruining the play. So yeah, i would really love some pointers on how to fix this and also some general tips on portraying my emotions better. Thank you in advance
After almost 4 years working as an actor in South Florida, I finally got an agent in Los Angeles. I can't wait to see what new opportunities lie ahead. So if there are any new auditions in Los Angeles, please contact my agent Laura Lichen [https://lauralichenmanagement.com/](https://lauralichenmanagement.com/) |||| |:-|:-|:-| |||| https://preview.redd.it/kx6ummmtqt261.jpg?width=1565&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=66981b98d775cab26e3113eff26f5f040c607b3b
I’ve seen many actors like Saoirse Ronan, Florence Pugh, Jodie comer, Anya Taylor, etc. who repeatedly keep saying they never had any formal training and actor on their instincts? What does that even mean? Are they just talented enough to be natural actors or they learn acting on the job? What is their process how do they get their emotions out? How do they figure out the character?
I've been considering it and I'm willing to put in countless hours into mending my craft! I'd appreciate it if you'd give me a rough explanation on how hard or simple it is, before I do something irrational!! I'm 18 and looking to this as a job
I want to be an actor. I really do. The craft of acting fascinates me so much. Watching good acting makes me tear up. Doesn't matter if it's grief the actor is showing, or joy. I love it all. What I want to talk about here is my problems with facing a camera. I have as they call it, camera shyness. Mainly because I'm not really photogenic. That has affected me a lot. And now I get scared of being infront of the camera. How do I remove this fear and start expressing my self better? I am very much a beginner. I've never acted infront of anyone. I've kept it to myself. But I want to open up. Help out.
By “successful actors” I mean actors making their livings from acting, and well-knowns.
Hello Actors,With the help of Nick Assunto, I am putting together a cast for a Zoom play reading of my screenplay, "The Bottom Line," to take place on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at around 6:00 pm. This is a full-length feature film that the cast will be reading. I am looking for two male actors - one is the leading man, late 30's, who is ATN's News Anchor - a Peter Jennings type. The other is a fifty's something, old-school journalist who is managing editor of ATN News in 1988, responsible for putting together the news team that is #1 in the ratings. If you are interested, please respond to this post and I will check out your profile. There is no remuneration for this gig, but it is fun to get together with other actors and there will be an audience of Stage 32 members listening in and giving comments following the reading. I'm excited to be given this opportunity as it will be the first time I hear my characters actually speaking the dialogue I gave them.
Hey All! Myself and some actor friends are all in SAG, and we came up with an idea for a short film and are eager to shoot it. Is it worth it/necessary to go through all of the SAG paperwork? My friends are all on board with just hiring a crew and shooting it non-union style, but since I'm a newer SAG member and haven't done something like this before I wanted to be sure it was safe to do so.
I have put in over 100 emails for it to register but every single time it says that the email is invalid, how do I fix this?
1. was my first hold for series regular so i guess that's something but yes i am disappointed but i am also happy cd knows my work now and trusts me and they know my name for next time(s) - hopefully. my last role was a guest star on another show. but man sucks to go into holidays knowing that i didn't get it! 2. now i am one of the finalists for a project with a movie star known for his temper/dick-ish behavior (lol no it's not james franco but in that range) and i am TERRIFIED bc i respect this person's work a LOT but if I book it i am gonna be a nervous wreck! This star will also be directing it (so obviously he has already seen my tape) and again i respect his work so i am like uhh
This is a question I’m sure many other actors have, especially during COVID. How can someone best practice acting on their own? I’m not really looking for small little exercises to do each day, though those would be helpful too. Mainly, I’m looking for a loose blueprint to follow where you can stick with a daily plan that allows you practice acting alone. This isn’t an easy question I know, so for any experienced actors on here, your feedback/suggestions/personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you, readers, for taking the time to read this post- My name is Delta Hawkins, I am the co-owner of Frictionite Studios and creator of an upcoming episodic RPG game titled "Lupus Ex Machina". Lupus Ex Machina is 4 parts long, one part being a free to play prologue that's set to launch some time next year, while the other 3 parts will be purchased separately as they are completed and released for PC on Steam. With that said, while the engine for Lupus Ex Machina is complete, as well as maps and even cutscenes; the only real thing that was planned since the beginning is voice acting for each of the characters. The prologue features 3 main characters, a small supporting cast, and a few NPCs here and there that only require actors because they're in the background during a fully animated cutscene. \[Protagonists\] Tyler Jack Norman - (LAST CALL) - 16 years old, Male, Spaniard/Scottish-American, Hacker-for-hire, Wily and crazy, but also presently fatigued and done with life. Personality Reference: SuperButterBuns (Youtuber) Nathaniel Concerto Thompson - (LAST CALL) - 15 years old, Male, European-American, Former theater kid, son of a rich televangelist, sassy in nature, but also lacking in empathy at times. Tyler's best friend. Personality Reference: Matthew MacDell (Big Mouth) Damien Dao Mai - (OPEN) - 17 years old, Chinese/Italian-American, Son to a notorious mafia don, cold and quiet in nature, often acting in a cruel and apathetic way towards his enemies, but has a soft side for the few people he does care about. Adoptive cousin to Nate, Frenemies with Tyler. (Not supposed to make an appearance till after the Prologue, so casting for this character can wait.) Personality Reference: Silver (Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal) Thor - (LAST CALL) - Tyler's Childhood Dog, Unshakably virtuous, Constantly hungry, and uses a technologically augmented piece of headgear to speak with other characters; to which has a male pre-teen like voice with a childlike, innocent tone. Thor's voice does have a mechanical and almost metallic filter to further relay that his voice is coming from Thor's headgear and not from Thor himself. This filter will be applied in editing, and should not be submitted pre-rendered with audition audio. Personality Reference: Guilmon (Digimon Tamers) \[Supporting Cast / NPCs (Prologue)\] Saoirse Norman - (TAKEN) - 39 years old, Female, Ex-Military, Has a minor scottish accent, flips between a motherly and sweet disposition and a gruff drill-sergeant like barking tone. Oh yeah, and her name is pronounced Seer-Shuh. Christian Rallentando Thompson - (LAST CALL) - 37 years old, Male, Popular televangelist and owner of a small franchise of music stores, actually a little submissive in a social setting but greatly protective of his son Nate, has an irrational prejudice against cyborgs. Icarus - (TAKEN) - Unknown age, Male, Gruff, commanding adult voice, serves as Commander of the Androsuitor Armada. Appears in 1 scene in the prologue, and doesn't about halfway through the game. Background roles - Police officers 1-5 (OPEN), Pizza Parlor Clerk (OPEN), Female News Anchor (LAST CALL), Chief of Police (OPEN), Reporter in crowd (OPEN) \[Budgeting and Payment\] Currently, there is no budget for this project. Not even a Kickstarter. However, for the longer term roles, since the later episodes of Lupus Ex Machina are paid products- Profits made from each quarter can be divided and distributed based on the workload of each person involved. This means that background roles usually receive smaller cuts each quarter whereas recurring roles and plot heavy roles receive larger payments from each quarter as they do more for the project itself. As far as making money off of being a voice actor for Lupus Ex Machina, treat this as a volunteer-only gig for now. If not for the project, do it for your demo reels so you can land better gigs with upfront budgets, but the choice is entirely yours. I figured it'd be better to be honest than to sugarcoat this casting call and end up sounding pretentious and having unpaid actors on my hands. \[Contact Information and Auditioning\] For auditions, please send either your demo reel or a pre-recorded audition of a few lines from the script provided below (recommended and preferred) for the character of your choice, as well as any questions or concerns to my email: [Deltahawkins8465@gmail.com](mailto:Deltahawkins8465@gmail.com) \[Script for Lupus Ex Machina's prologue\] [https://drive.google.com/file/d/1HEUOv7wn\_H9Hz6wdTP1h8Rtff-vy8sp0/view?usp=sharing](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1HEUOv7wn_H9Hz6wdTP1h8Rtff-vy8sp0/view?usp=sharing) \[Additional Notes as of 12/1/2020 at 1:04PM\] \-Tyler doesn't have an accent, he's american born and raised. \-Nate has a sassy/sarcastic tone, his \*mother\* has the european accent. \-Any effects or filters are added to the recordings by me, so don't worry about those. \-Tyler, Nate, and Damien are \*teenagers\*; adult voices won't fit with them. \-PLEASE BE ABLE TO YELL OR BE LOUD \-Good audio quality with minimal to no background noise is highly preferred. \-The script seems to have an editing mix-up on one of Tyler's lines. Feel free to ad-lib it or simply contact me via my email about how the line is supposed to read. \-DON'T ONLY READ YOUR CHARACTER'S LINES, read through the whole script to get a better understanding of how to voice these character. \-The 'Personality References' listed under each main protagonist is meant for their personality and inflection only, not their voices.

Hey everyone! I have something I need help with. Bit of background on me, Im an amateur voice actor. I started a couple months ago with no prior experience in acting at all. As time went on I improved and became fairly decent for an amateur. A local agent has displayed interest for me and wants to have an interview. Since Ive never done this before and dont really know what to expect, what advice can you all offer me? Like what should I say or not say, what to wear (its online), etc. Thanks :)
Hi everyone, hope you're having a good day:3 I was planning to post a series of mine on r/nosleep and I wanted to add an audio recording in the last part BUT , here's the catch, I personally am the worst poss candidate for voice acting something. My first thought was to ask a friend but none of them fit the role. My second thought was to ask here (and paying ofc) for someone to do it. The problem is: I'm not sure on how to correctly give the credits to the one I will pay to do the recording. You see, one of the rules of r/nosleep is to treat every story like it was real and adding the credit for the voice actor would kinda ruin the immersion but I would absolutely be against not crediting the actor for their work. Any ideas?:/
Hey y'all! I'm a ghost writer and a stand-up comedian (5 years), in these times I've lost the ability to work material out on stage. Which has lead me to write a comedy podcast. SO I NEED VOICE ACTORS! I have commercials about tactical dildos and guard cats. Or fake news like: Jesus and Satan are the leaders of: the Gay New World. If you want to read a script lmk, if you vibe well with a script- (I can write for a lot of characters) I can pay up to $75 a month for 30sec to 5min of voice work. I'm new to this so I apologize if the offer is insulting. I just want to support and grow with fellow artists. Hope to hear from you soon!
My studio is working on a game project that will have extensive voiceover work. We are in the early stages of planning our approach to the voiceover, and one thing that has come up is if we should do ensemble or individual recording. Our cast is mainly 2 characters, so ensemble would be feasible from a logistics perspective. I also feel like it would be reasonable to assume we'd get better and more natural performances with the actors being able to play off each other in ensemble. However, I also suspect that ensemble is going to be pushing it in terms of budget. At best, it won't leave any breathing room, which could make things difficult for an indie project. Are these assumptions accurate? If so, is ensemble that much better that it is worth nearly doubling the budget for (though, maybe I'm overlooking something in my estimates)? Anyone have any thoughts or experience on this front?
Whatever your experience is or lack there of please reach out, it's a horror film we're looking to shoot in APRIL 2021
i REALLY want to be in indie/big screen films.. im female, 22, no experience or "connections" and scared that starting now is too late? am i being a quiter without even trying? its scary and i guess growth comes from taking the first step, but with covid and less production, is it realistic to have a goal of getting to the big name production companies? i'm no bombshell either (even tho thats not the only roles for woman these days but..) what is the most common type cast????? this isnt me being vain and seeking fame at all, and i am prepared for the process, but times are tough rn in the field and i dont know about starting out late as female in an industry that desires young n beautiful..... plus, all training is online... who wants an actor with only online training????? help!!!!! i know "do it for the love of it" but i dont know how to stand out rn with everything going on... do you think there will be a new rising star post 2021 ??? cant even go to a stand up mic or in person class or meet a director at a party! where do i start !!!
Aloha guys. This post is pretty random and filled with a few questions lol I’m thinking of taking the next step on my journey to becoming an actor and applying to some agencies(in Toronto) but Im a little nervous. I have some experience(2 students films, 2 music videos and a year and a half of acting classes) but my resume looks a little bland. *Side Note*- Can music videos go on my resume even though I didn’t have any lines and if so, what header would I put it under? Do you guys have any recommendations of agencies I should apply to in Toronto? I heard Amanda Rosenthal is good but I’m not sure if I should apply to her cause I don’t have that much experience. Also do you think it’s a good time to apply to agencies(November-December) or should I wait a little bit longer? Lastly, I kind of have a draft of what my submission would look like but I’m afraid that it’s too long/wordy. I also don’t have a demo reel(working on it) but I do have some footage from class. Would that be okay to send in?
i'm doing my first audition/self tape through actors access and was wondering what "Name_S1T1" means? i've tried thinking of all the possible things it means but cant. here's an example of what they're asking for "slate name_s1t1 name_s1t2 name_s2t1 scene"
I know it varies now with covid etc but generally how many auditions does the average actor get?
Don't get me wrong-- I think Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver are GREAT actors with a range but they do not fit how I would have pictured their characters. I think Adam is good at dramatic roles, but I think he fits the character such as in Marriage Story wayyy better than the "evil/secretly love interest" in Star Wars. I guess Disney had a very different taste of star wars cast than the original casting? What are everyone's thoughts? I also should add I am shocked that Daisy has not seem to landed any other roles but Adam has and they are both I think pretty talented but people say Daisy's acting is very bland?

Hi ya'll, hope everyone is doing well. Quick question. So I'm brand new to all this and am just getting started. I've built a sound booth, have my mic and audio interface, etc. I was listening to a pro voice actor/ coach recommend to find commercials on YouTube or the net, transcribe them, and record your version for your demo. I like the idea of this, but it seems like it would infringe on their copyright or intellectual property. Is this allowed? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Hope everyone had a great turkey day if you celebrate it!
Hi, im an engineering student close to get my bachelor and ready to my master degree in robotics. When i was a kid i always dreamed about create a robot like terminator and such but back then it would be just a dream. Today we have a lot of robots and boston dynamics really doing what, me as a child, dreamed a lot. Working for boston dynamics would be awesome. How can i do that? Simple, get a engineering degree, or computer, get experience in the common field and send some CV and hope for the best! Easy right? But what about the acting part? When i was a kid i acted quite a lot with other kids. Some days we are fighting dragons, the other days we try to not fall down into the lava and the other day we are knight. We all acted when we were childs and i find this world quite fascinating except for the nude part where i feel really embarassed. But if i wanna persuade this job, how can i reach that? For the engineering part, i have a clean idea to how reach everyjob, at least, how i can try to reach that job but for the acting part i have no idea, like i don't know where to start. I live in Italy, but im really interested about UK and USA movies. I know people from my city that are actors, but because they are italians, and for other reason, they only work into the italian films. But if me, from Italy, wanna try to enter in the UK/USA films, do you have any ideas where to start? Like, enter in a school of acting in London or maybe, in London there are open casting for films?
For the first audition they gave us a list of monologues we had to do, so it was easy just to pick the two I liked the most. However, for call backs they require us to pick one for ourselves that connects to our actors stream or something. What type of monologue works best in these auditions? A super deep dramatic one? Or something else?
Weeee, you found me!
