What's your advice for actors who tend to be too "in their head" and tend to overthink too much? How can actors cure themselves of overthinking?
Hello folks, i'm a working voice actor, but until now i only have worked locally. i am looking to get into some remote stuff. what are your thoughts about the various websites for finding work? There are so many i don't know where to start. So if you have good or bad experiences with any of them please clue me in. Thanks, and good luck out there.
Backstory: Worked on a show in the US with an actress quite well known in her native country. Lives in the states and her daughter was born here/has grown up here with her parents culture/language surrounding her and dad is also in the business. Daughter never really did much with acting except a couple cameos in dad's films as a kid. Mother and daughter are now about to release a big film together (with them both playing huge roles) directed by daddy who is a high profile director in said native country and here in America. Set to release in aforementioned native country of mom and dad. Daughter is now taking acting classes to officially prepare herself for her blooming career. Read this in a magazine in said native country with a glitzy glamorous photoshoot/interview of the two with mommy gushing about her daughter and her career prospects. This is all fine and well. Except there's one thing I can't wrap my head around. When I was working with said actress on set a couple years ago, she mentioned to me and the other actors I worked with she was trying to get her daughter into acting. Said her daughter wasn't really interested but she and daddy were trying to push her into it. I'm nodding my head yes but in my head screaming GOD JUST LET HER DO WHATEVER THE FUCK SHE WANTS. LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO DO SOMETHING YOU DON'T WANT TO DO PLUS THERE ARE SO MANY ACTRESSES WHO'D LOVE TO HAVE THE ROLE! I get it. Good connections gives you good jobs which gives you good money/benefits and sets you up for a good life. As risky as acting is, it's a smart idea. Maybe I'm just a frustrated middle class actor. Maybe I'm jealous of the connections. Maybe I just answered my own question. Who knows. THOUGHTS? TLDR: Why force your children to do something they don't want to do?!?!? In ANYTHING?
I’m not a voice actor or anything like that but I was thinking there might be some voice coaches on this subreddit that could answer this. Basically I 18F, soon to be 19 in 3 months, went on Omegle last night with my older sister and younger cousin (21F, 14F). I brought my laptop over to my cousins house because I had to go there for Eid but also decided I should catch up on some uni work. My cousin and sister insisted on going on omegle using my laptop because they were bored so I agreed and decided to join along. They didn’t want to show there faces so I put a sticker on my laptop camera an then proceeded to talk to some people. Some people would ask for our age and when I said my age they were like “you don’t sound 18 almost 19, you sound like you’re 14/15.” One 15 year old kid thought I was 12. Only a small handful of people thought I sounded 17-19. People in real life have referred to my voice as deep so I always assumed I sounded my age or older. I’m so embarrassed that my voice was mistaken for a child and now I’m wondering if anyone on here can give me advice on how to sound older.
I’m just curious if there are stunt doubles around Dundas square in Toronto willing to make a collab for a beginner film, I have an Idea and a rough script, tell me what you think. ( My ideal lead would be a stunt woman :) This project would need supporting actors as well so just testing the waters ☺️
Hey. Im New to acting (recently got signed with an agent) and I’ve only had one audition so far. I was wondering if actors or casting directors in here have any advice on how to get more auditions? Thanks.
Hi! Not a voice actor, but instead a client wanting to get your perspective about a weird situation I'm have atm. So I finished recording all the dialogue with various voice actors for my project; this was all finished a few weeks ago. All of the voice actors have been fully paid and they were all lovely to work with. Jump to a few weeks later, and I'm currently having second thoughts about of one of the roles. As I just don't think their voice necessarily fits the character as closely as I'd like. It wasn't bad by any means and it's not the end of the world if I go with their final takes. However, I just think a completely different direction for the character would be what I'd prefer for the final product. And so I've been thinking about hiring a different voice actor to fill in the role. However, that also means I won't be able to use the original va in the final product. I don't want the original voice actor feel bad about a potential VA switch, however I also don't know if they even care since they've already been paid and maybe I'm being too personal as a client about this. So would it be wrong of me to re-record their lines with a different voice actor and leave the original lines unused? Or am I just stuck to sticking with the original voice actors? Would love to hear your opinions on this.
Hello --- sorry - long ramble of a post Back in 2021, a respected casting director reached out to me and asked if I would consider being the lead in a student thesis short for a well respected film school. I loved the script, fun, ambitious, something I'd not had the chance to do before - and scheduling wise - four days during a quiet time while everything was shutting down for the holidays was totally feasible. I'm a working actor and jump from show to show in and out of town as a guest actor. The student film was unpaid, which I was totally okay with - four consecutive days was something that I could commit to... and again... loved the material... I didn't get my agents involved as there's no commission and it should just be in and out... Four days unfortunately did not remain four days... I expected (and was fine with) a wardrobe fitting and a table read - totally normal... totally cool... but then they wanted another fitting, and a rehearsal, and another rehearsal, and another, and another --- and what was four days quickly became eight... and then adding in the covid tests and such it just became a lot of consumed time that wasn't discussed up front... I somewhat shrugged it off... they're students, they want to be prepared... I did everything they asked. Sucked it up. Moved on. Cut to filming --- and we start hitting snags on day three... when I was informed in passing that there are in fact more filming days planned, and had been planned for a while --- for the new year. I was frustrated but said I could commit to another day in early January before other commitments kicked in. Then production took a bit of a turn in terms of safety, in terms of preparedness, in terms of everything. Days spilled over, and they stopped making their days... Now they needed an additional three days in the new year... I told them early January I could commit to getting it wrapped up... they said they couldn't do it until March. Sigh. March became April and April became June... and we're back up... I'm juggling three other network shows and can only commit to weekends. We shot two weekends, and again... they didn't make their shooting days... now they need more weekends... and more weekends... and I just do not have the time or energy to balance it any more. When I bring up my concerns I'm met with "We're so close, just one more half day"... which becomes a full day... which spills over... I want to call it quits but don't want to ruin their thesis. I don't want to get them in trouble with their school... and I'd rather not relay how things have gone so off the rails with the casting director... but I really feel like my time has been/is still being abused... Would love insights on if people have dealt with this before? TL/DR - what was a four day unpaid student film has become a ten day unpaid student film and they're still asking for more - help?
The title says it all. I just started an acting class for film and one of the first lessons was that actors should ask technical questions on set such as, “Where are my microphones?” Any other ideas of questions that actors should be asking on set to make the filming/editing process as smooth as possible?
I’ve tried looking this up and I’ve found nothing. I’ll use an example for the question I’m asking: if you appear in a music video that is monetized and put on YouTube, do you then get residual pay from the views? Or does that just go to the musician? Thanks
I am developing a character. It is one that is very much associated with another actor. From what I understand it is very easy to try doing the character too much as the actor who is famous for doing it. I've even heard that it is best not to look how the actor did it as you should only care about how you will do the character. Today I went to theatre and saw this character but done by another actor. All I did was thinking how much he did not look like the original. He could probably have done the role more like the original. I was a bit dissapointed. The other actors in the play looked more like the how the were originally done. All the roles are associated with specific actors. It is a comedy. Is that important? What can you experts say about this?
This series includes a character named Marley who is a woman that enters through internal crisis through life problems and dangerous events. She becomes crazy from being hated or get hurt by the people physically. She would get revenge by hurting or injuring them. I am mostly looking for a energetic creepy high voice for the character. If you would like to do this privately, here is my email. Email: chaopatel@gmail.com
Hi, I know this may seem silly, and I have seen many posts talking about backstage, actors access and stuff like that but is there a way to find casting calls for new shows on netflix, paramount, disney or something that would be shown on hbo? I want to start off and build my resume. I have videos I posted on youtube, and I've done a few plays before.
My agency instructed me in an orientation email not to press the confirm submission button on casting sites but to instead let them know that I would be submitting and they would confirm on my behalf. They haven’t done this for two auditions in a row now and I have to remind them when my self tape is ready that I need them to confirm for me. I can’t upload my self tape without them confirming first. Is this normal or can I just confirm submission and upload the self tape. It’s on actors access so it would still not even be uploaded until my agent checks it out
I’m trying to gather voice inspiration ideas for some of my characters, and one female main character will have a raspy, kinda husky voice. I know the big Hollywood stars like Sophia Bush or Scarlet Johansson have that, but what are some from the voice acting/English dub community?
Hey y’all, I’m looking for a bit of advice. I’m currently in the process of putting some media together so I can start seeking representation. Does anyone have any suggestions for agencies that will work or have worked with new actors? I have Call Sheet, but there’s a lot in there and I’m trying to narrow down my parameters a bit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
hi guys :) I’ve recently decided, at the ripe age of 19 years old, that I’d like to get into acting. I’m in an acting class, but I feel extremely overwhelmed since the beginners class has people with experience, and I have none. I feel as though I’ll get embarrassed and make a fool of myself, or I’ll be judged by my classmates. I’m also doubting myself as an actor in general. I think just some words of advice and encouragement would help. how can I help the feeling of embarrassment? is 19 too old to start acting? any tips or things I need to know? thank you in advance :)
I'm a new actor, and have only been in school plays, but I want to start acting and I can't do subscriptions with backstage bc, well, I'm 14. Can any of you guys give some sites with legit castings for TV shows and movies bear NJ, Def not out of the US. I could do like, NJ, Michigan, NY, and Pennsylvania. Maybe Virginia too, but idk.
What is it called when you film a scene or maybe a large part of a film/show, but you just film it for pacing and you edit it together to see how the final product might look? So like the actors are probably reading off the script and aren't in any specific wardrobe and it's filmed. Like a test shoot? It's almost like just a table read, but the actors will actually act out the scene and the camera will get the angles and maybe even lighting that is needed. Basically filming and editing together a rehearsal just so you can get an idea of how the scene will be and you can adjust things in the script accordingly? I personally call it a craptacular, because often times when I do it for my stuff I just film it on my phone, read off the script, and edit it together super fast and it looks like crap, but it's just for a quick and dirty idea of how the scene will play out. Is it a filmed storyboard? A filmed rehearsal? A test footage? A test shoot? There has to be a specific name for this but I can't remember what it is and no one seems to quite understand what I mean.
Edit: I’m a dual citizen, can legally work in both canada and australia I have searched the sub for this, sadly I didnt find what I was looking for. I’m looking to move into a busier city for film at the end of summer. I’m torn between going to Australia (sydney or newcastle) or moving to Vancouver. I’ve found it hard to find info on how busy the industry is in Australia, I know Vancouver is a really solid hub for aspiring actors. Some background: I have oncreen experience with background and special skills on big sets and speaking roles in short films. I also have acting and accent training. I just turned 23 and want to make sure I make the right move to the place that has opportunity. Australia is a big move which I’m considering mainly cause of the family I have there. Any advice/experience is greatly appreciated
hi i’m 16 and growing up in Atlanta Ga. My entire life i wanted to be an actress but was met with no support financially, I now have a job but i have no experience except with high-school theater, I don’t know what to look for in an acting class. Wanting to be an actress growing up only my mother was really supportive of me but she passed a couple of months back and it had really left me stagnant. Thinking of it now it only makes me want to accomplish my dream even more. If you have any tips for me it would be greatly appreciated!
Hey guys I’m a very new aspiring actor. Currently 17 going into my senior year of High school. I’ve decided to do online schooling instead of graduating and partying out my senior year because I wanted to pursue this interest of acting. I recently just took and finished my first acting class (stage fighting not so much acting) and about to take another class that focuses more on the acting and theatrics. I have done a lot of research into acting, watching hours upon hours of YouTube academy, I’ve read some Reddit post on here (including the FAQs). I have some questions mainly about when I should get my headshots, and any tips for someone who has never auditioned or been on stage or just general life tips about the business? Thanks, Jacob
Title! OneOnOne nyc- how many people get in?
Today I had to write an e-mail to a director and writer whom I felt was being unprofessional on set. It's not the kind of letter I want to write, but being in SAG-AFTRA for many years now they acted unprofessionally and so I was assertive about it. I feel if you write someone in a healthy way, it's totally okay to let them know if you're offended or hurt by something. Especially as a woman. Years ago I would've held myself from doing it, I didn't have as many credits but that is no excuse - if you feel like something is not appropriate, speak up. The great thing about an email in b+w is that if anyone says you were 'troublesome' you have a date stamped piece of information right there which is very easy to forward to attorneys and the proper authorities if need be. They are not kidding when they say WOC need to keep their receipts but I also think it goes for actors and talent (the newer talent being more vulnerable). In the same vein, DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING unless you are ABSOLUTELY 100% sure. Do not write anything that could get you incriminated or into trouble (yes even a 'joke' can take you down - this can be true for text too) - be clear and professional and you will be covered. I wish new actors coming into the industry knew this but often they don't - don't let ppl take advantage of you. Have a mentor about one or two rungs above you (sometimes your acting school can help you up with this opportunity) - someone slightly ahead of you will know this stuff and will be able to help you with the watch outs.
I have a few IMDb credits to my name, but I'm mostly helping out with the marketing and networking aspects of some more talented actors who are friends of mine. One such actor wants me to be his official agent so he can land bigger roles with that professional go-between. Do I need a special LLC to be a talent agent? Do I need certain credentialing? Or do I just need to declare it and be confident with it going forward with my public presence?
When it comes to acting. Is it harder to acting when it comes to big movies like, Star Wars, top gun, marvel movies. Like would an actor for Disney, or a sitcom type actor be able to act in these movies? Like what is the level of acting I guess is what I am asking.
Hey...recently, I've only been getting about one audition every month to month and a half. I reached out to my agent and they said that, outside of MOWs, this is one of the slower times of the year - and that things start picking up about mid July to early August (usually). This has been troubling for me because I am starting to believe this is not the case. I wanted to reach out and ask if anyone else has been sorely lacking in the audition department. What are you experiences currently?
Can an actor have more than one working name simultaneously? Is there any issue with this? For example: Could I be James Bean in action productions, and ‘Harvard Kool’ in dramatic productions?
This is going to be a long post. So I’m 19M and am currently in Community College my major is Liberal Arts I go back in the fall. For the longest time I’ve had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. At first when I was like 10 I wanted to be an electrician I thought it sounded interesting but then once I learned more about it I got turned off from it. When I was 14 I got super into movies and TV shows I saw them as an escape from my boring life I remember I used to try to emulate the personalities of the main characters in the movies and shows I watched. When I was about 17 and in my junior year of high school I decided I wanted to get involved in the entertainment industry but behind the camera. I ended up taking this Filmmakers class at a BOCES school and while the teacher was a complete asshole I gained two things from the class. The first was I ended up meeting my now best friend and we instantly bonded. The second was for the class we had to shoot a short film and I got picked to be an actor for the project. I fucking loved it everyone I worked with was great and I felt a feeling of Immense Joy I can’t really explain it. Flash forward to fall 2021 I decided I want to go to Community College for money reasons/ not exactly knowing what I want to do yet and pandemic related reasons. I was majoring in Radio at the time but I ended up switching to Liberal Arts in December 2021 because I realized I didn’t really want to be a radio host or work for a radio station. Flash forward to now and the other night I had a realization. I want to be an actor I really have a passion for the industry. The reason why is quite simple, I want to be someone I want to make a legacy for myself. My dad works a dead end job at a travel agency and my uncle works at a lab and lives with my grandmother I don’t want to end up like them. I haven’t told my mom because I’m afraid what she might say and whoever ends up reading this might laugh and say “Good luck buddy thousands of other people have the same dream and they all tried and failed.” You might be right but I would rather try and fail then to not do anything at all. I’m not sure if this is just a crazy unrealistic fantasy I have or something I should actually try to pursue. I’m not even sure where I would start.
Hi, I recently decided to pick up acting and managed to find an agent last week. I’ve had one audition so far but being that I am still new and haven’t acted on screen before, I am looking to take more acting workshops around town. Could you please recommend me some acting classes? I know it’s important to invest in this so I can hone my skills and also stand out during auditions since my main goal right now is to book my first job, but I also want to be well prepared for the job. If you also have any advice on how to stand out in self tape auditions, from a casting directors perspective, please let me know! Any tips in general is appreciated. Thanks.
Hi, I was just curious to know about ignite artists as an agency because they seem to have a large roster but not many updates on bookings. Is it one of the good agencies? What are your thoughts?
I keep seeing “Rate Of Pay: Copy, Credit, Meal” on actors access. Meal is obvious. But what’s copy & credit?
So I was an actress in my home country, and moved to the US a year ago. I am also very pretty lol, no kidding. I've always been told that, and all my family and friends know that. I am 5'10, with green eyes and long brown hair. Now, my English isn't great though, but I am doing my best to improve it. How do I get in touch with some Hollywood people? Would it be better to move to LA? I live in the Midwest now.
If an actor or voice actor is registered with the union ( UBCP/ACTRA ), can they still take on gigs without involving the union?
I’ve been trying to pursue a career as a working actor for a number of years, I have no desire to be famous, just that I would make enough from regular work to say it’s my full time job. It has been such a dry spell for me that I am honestly thinking about calling it a day, I’m male and just turned 30, haven’t had a gig since last November and just can’t get in the room. My agent submits me regularly but just nothing is happening, she says my headshots and reel are fine, I’ve also got firearms training but still nothing. I met with a potential manager recently who reiterated over and over my age might be a problem, as people my age who have way more credits will get seen. So how does that help when I can’t get work to get more credits lol Sorry for the big rant but I’m just really struggling to figure out what I need to be doing, is anyone else feeling the same ?
Throwaway for very obvious reasons... But is anyone else getting annoyed with all these casting directors, agents, and aspiring actors becoming "influencers"? Tons of no name industry people are now making Instagram videos to "help actors" and they have gained a decent chunk of followers from doing this, (20K +). I notice that a lot of them are putting "Public Figure" in there Bio now as well, and it ANNOYS me. They have this cult following of green actors who always praise them, and I'm sure it fuels the ego. But I looked up the people behind some of these accounts... One of the CDs hasn't even cast anything in about 10 years. Another one is an agent, and I swear she spends more time doing lives, instagram videos, and club house talks, then she does actually being an agent. I know personally my agent is super busy most of the time, I can't imagine having an agent who is constantly on Instagram and making advice videos. Also, an actress who has a very popular podcast (not Audrey), makes money through actors supporting her on her Patreon, buying her overpriced Chinese self tape kit, and charging people for her advice. I looked up her IMDB and she only has 3 small credits from the last 13 years. Its so over saturated now, that its hard to find who is actually legit. And these poor novice actors are shoveling out money to them. It's like these "industry influencers" saw Wendy Allen Wrights scheme and wanted in on it....
Hello Everyone. I am an aspiring voice actor in the Atlanta area and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestion on a coach or classes I can take to improve myself? I've already taking a few 1 on 1 sessions however I was hoping to find something that was weekly to help me focus on developing my voice and strengthening my quality of work. Does anyone here have any suggestions?
Ok so I'm from a South Asian country, and I know that I want to be an actor and am willing to do whatever it takes and this is my current plan for the future!!! I don't want to be an actor in my country due to the lack of diversity and lack of genres, therefore I will be aiming for Hollywood! For now I will be joining a Canadian university this fall and majoring in Drama and English (double major cause if all goes to hell, my backup plan is news anchoring or journalism)!!! For now I've promised myself that for the next 4 years I will prioritize my GPA, and extra-curricular to get as many scholarships as possible and to avoid student debt as much as I can!!! I've looked up all the improv, public speaking, theatre clubs and they will be my utmost priority!!! I want to give in my best to my studies (for scholarships) and my best to extra-curricular activities (for experience, learning and improving)!!! After those 4 years I intend to stay I canada for another 1 year (the student visa allows you to apply for 1 additional year to work a job etc.) In that 1 year I plan on grinding and working hard to pay some more of my student loans and take part in alumni theatre!!! After that my plan is to apply for 2 things- On one hand I will be applying to Yale, brown, Juilliard, NIDA and Rada (MA theatre lab) and side by side I will also apply and audition for as many casting calls I stumble across on backstage, IG, and FB!! If I get a role, I'll apply for Canadian citizenship, ACTRA, and start working, otherwise I'll give in my best to the auditions and hope for the best!! This is my current plan for the future, I'm 18 Female and awfully optimistic!!! I hear my mum telling me to reconsider my choice every now and then and I see so many people tell their experiences and talk about their struggles... but I'm convinced that if I could survive my high school bullies, I can survive struggling and failing!!!! I know this is awfully hopeful but acting is the only career for me, it makes me feel good as a person and it's all I want to do in my life!!!! I'm putting this message out here hoping you can give me any advice, recommendations or anything you want to say in general!!!! I know this is a lot of planning, but this way I know what to expect from the next 5 years!!! Will be super grateful if you could share some insight, opinions, or comments!!! Hopefully 8 years from now I'll look back at this post and there would be 2 possibilities- 1) I would be struggling, maybe even questioning my choices, but I'd read this and feel encouraged to not give up! 2) I would have made it, and I'd probably update this post with information from my successful auditions!!!
Use this thread to post your headshots for feedback, get info on your age range/type, find good headshot photographers, ask any questions you may have about headshots. If you are posting a DIY headshot for feedback, and not just a snapshot in order to get feedback on your age range/type/etc, it is advised that you do at least some basic research on what actor headshots look like--composition, framing, lighting. You will find a Google Image search for "actor headshots" to be very helpful for this. Non-professional shots are fine for age/typecasting; please keep in mind that one picture is a difficult way to go about this. Video of you moving and speaking would be ideal, but understandably more difficult to post. For what it's worth, the branding workshop at SAG-AFTRA recommends a five-year age range. That's inclusive, so for example 19-23, 25-29, 34-38, etc.
I got an oc named Parker, his only personality trait is just being timid pretty much. I just discovered this subreddit and I thought posting in here would be easier than going down voice actor websites, spotify music, and realistic text to speech bots so here's some more info: he's a teen to young adult, easily off-put and not hard to scare. not always but there's usually some hesitancy and fear in his voice. I would describe it like Taro Yamada from yandere simulator just more whiny if that makes sense. another thing is I found this song here: [https://open.spotify.com/track/11NH1FcVnqMOEa5U0BZtWs?si=5c85436cf5fd4242](https://open.spotify.com/track/11NH1FcVnqMOEa5U0BZtWs?si=5c85436cf5fd4242), it sounds almost exactly like how I picture their voice except it'd be more masculine.
Today, a huge director picked me for a non-speaking, yet "pivotal" role in a blockbuster ($350M+) production. My name was put up for the role at 2pm today, and by 3:50pm, I was offered the job. I would be shooting for two days, earning 3k, where I, among a crowd of extras, are selected in the scene to work closely opposite a huge A-list talent (Marvel big), before having a breakdown in reaction to the character's dismissal of myself (a good scene to show off my chops, yet no lines or character name). The role, however, would require me to shave my head ***tomorrow***. My representation suggest to take the part, considering the size of the project, and that auditions are slowing down, due to a lack of new productions over the next few months, allowing me to grow my hair back in time. I just got new headshots, and wrapped a leading role in a 10 episode show for a small network which is releasing in a month from now. I'm worried about not being able to ride the wave of that show, yet my gut says to take this role, as I'll live in regret if I don't take up the opportunity. I've dreamed of working with this director, yet I'm worried about how this shaving will threaten other roles for me. It would take about 6 months to grow my hair back. I would love to know your thoughts. [View Poll](https://www.reddit.com/poll/vtf2nc)
i signed up for acting class for next year of school (hs) and if i get it i will be really embarassed and anxious. i have social anxiety and i have slight feelings of regret for signing up but i really want to be an actor some day. sometimes when all i have to do is read in front of the class i get a little shaky and i have no friends to help either since im also introverted. i hope this didnt sound dumb. i think its a little foolish that someone who struggles to talk to people wants to have a job where its mostly talking to people. opinions? help? tips? again, sorry oeifhdkcnjenjqjcoemc
I’ve worked for a long time as a musical theater actress but decided a few years ago it wasn’t bringing me the same joy it used to. Since then I’ve done all the things I thought I wasn’t allowed to do as an actor, mainly getting lots of cool tattoos. As much as I love them I’m feeling slightly regretful as I want to get back into acting. Do any actors here have experience with tattoos? Were you ever turned away or do you cover them up for auditions? Would love to hear from fellow tattooed actors.
Deleted my previous post because of rude, snarky comments. What does it mean to “look” like an actor? What are some actor stereotypes that might cause people to assume you’re an actor? Do you think comments like these are based on your appearance or overall persona or something else?
New actor here. For the past couple of days, I was practicing how to be vulnerable for a monologue. Aside from being able to cry on cue, I found it extremely difficult to really let the emotion play in my mind for it to be authentic. It wasn’t until the actual day of class that I was to really able feel something real, even if it was for a brief 5-10 seconds! Honestly it almost felt like this whole acting thing may not be for me if I couldn’t do the most simplest thing, but my teacher gave me enough good direction to push through. It’s the small wins that count, right?
I've always wanted to become an actor but if I'm being honest with myself, I don't know if I want to become an actor badly enough to actually become a successful one (in terms of making it my only source of income). I've always thought that I wanted to become an actor because I wanted to make something that I was proud of and do something that I truly enjoyed, but I've now realized that if I'm not able to become an actor that makes a decent amount of money, then I don't want to pursue it nearly as much. But the main reason I want to become an actor is because of how fun it seems to have the relationships with other cast members. So I'm writing this to ask if you guys have any ideas for jobs that are very social and you can develop really good relationships with people. TLDR: I want a job that is similar to acting in the sense that you can develop great relationships with people
I submitted to my first projects yesterday and just got my first audition for principal part in a commercial! I’m ecstatic and don’t want to screw this up! Does anyone have tips for nailing commercial auditions? As I know they differ from film. Thanks!!
I'm 14. My life long dream is to be an actress and be known in the world, but I know how difficult the industry is. I'm scared that I'll fail and never reach my dream and make it in the industry. I know how difficult it actually is to become famous, but I'm not looking for fame. Yes, I dont want to obviously make an impact and be known as an actress but it's not my MAIN goal. I just love acting and it's my only passion, but I still want to "make it" fortunately i know my parents are there to support me with this. But does anyone have any advice? I'm really afraid that nothing will ever work out because I want this so bad and it's the only thing I can ever picture myself doing in life, but I know how hard it is. Please help. if you have anything, let me know. I'll take any help/advice/info you can get no matter what it is. Thank you!!
Who or what performances in the world of acting are getting you excited lately? It doesn't have to be something new, just someone/something lately that that made you think “Dang I just wish I was that good”? I'm posting on behalf of r/hobbies. We're trying to better understand the aspirational side of acting, so that we can get people excited to try something new. I don't know much about acting, hence why I'm here. Any and all feedback is appreciated :)
I'm starting fresh on instagram again using my name. I'm 24, I like to act and direct. I took courses in college and my degree is towards that however since the pandemic, I haven't been able to kick start my career. I was wondering if I could use instagram as a way to promote and brand myself as an aspiring actress/director by posting reels and vlogs documenting my journey on Backstage/AA/CN? Any advice would be highly appreciated!
Weeee, you found me!
I'm your buddy Bottie, I was hiding behind the scenes, but now that you've found me I'd be happy to tell you what I'm doing.
